JEFF MITCHELL

A member of the Phoenix Critics Circle, Jeff Mitchell has penned film reviews since 2008, graduated from ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, and is a certified Rotten Tomatoes critic. Follow Jeff and the Phoenix Film Festival on Twitter @MitchFilmCritic and @PhoenixFilmFest, respectively.

Monte Yazzie is the film reviewer for the North Phoenix publication “The Foothills Focus” and Festival Manager for the International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival. He continues to write consistently for www.dailydead.comand their recently launched magazine “Deadly”, and is a regular contributor to the Phoenix Film Festival and IHSFF website. BARBARA VANDENBURGH

Barbara VanDenburgh is a longtime Phoenix journalist and arts writer, a former film critic for The Arizona Republic and Books Editor for USA TODAY. She is currently the Communications Manager for The Sidney Poitier New American Film School at ASU and host of the First Draft Book Club at Changing Hands Bookstore in Phoenix.

Maya Badman can always be found with a pen in her hand. Whether she’s writing film reviews for the Phoenix Film Festival or writing for her concurrent majors at ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and ASU’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Maya enjoys her work. JEN JOHANS

A walking movie encyclopedia as well as a 3-time national award-winning writer, Jen Johans earned a BA in Film Studies and Communication from Prescott College, where she completed a challenging curriculum of self-designed study and received a scholarship for her thesis on Steven Soderbergh's "Sex, Lies, and Videotape.”

Additionally, Jen curated and hosted a film discussion series at the Scottsdale Public Library and worked for the Scottsdale International Film Festival. Having started her own site FilmIntuition.com back in 2006, Jen has written more than 2,500 pieces online and contributed to the DVD Netflix blog, IndieWire, Flixster, Hardboiled Wonderland, BlogCritics, the Phoenix Film Festival website, and Rupert Pupkin Speaks. When she isn't writing about movies, she can be found watching and discussing it on Twitter (@FilmIntuition) or conversing with some of the world's best film writers on her podcast "Watch With Jen.”

The Phoenix Film Festival is a program under the 501(c)3 non-profit organization Phoenix Film Foundation, and is a sibling of the Phoenix Film Society, International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival, Peoria Film Fest, IFP/Phoenix, Arizona Student Film Festival and Phoenix Critics Circle. The Phoenix Film Foundation is dedicated to promoting diversity and education in the arts, elevating underrepresented voices, and driving the growth of independent film in Arizona. Through film showcases and accessible educational initiatives, we cultivate a vibrant, inclusive cinematic community, utilizing it as a catalyst for personal growth, creative expression, and positive social change.
